Life can sometimes feel like one setback after another, with things slipping out of your hands and sinking beyond your reach. Losing something important can leave you feeling powerless, just like the man in the story of the lost axe head who watched something valuable vanish before him.
But just like in that story, God sees what you have lost. He knows your pain. And even when it feels impossible, there’s always hope, because nothing is beyond God’s power to restore.
Here’s a simple prayer to help you find hope:
1. Recognize Who God Is.
“Lord, You created everything. You hold the world in Your hands. What’s lost to me is never lost to You.”
2. Be Honest About Your Loss.
“Father, I bring my losses to You—the things I valued, worked hard for, and thought I couldn’t live without. It hurts, but I give this pain to You.”
3. Ask for God’s Help.
“God, I can’t fix this on my own. Just like Elisha trusted You, I am asking You to step in. Show Your power to restore what feels impossible.”
4. Trust God’s Plan
“Lord, I don’t know how You will work this out, or when. It may not look like I expect, but I trust You. Lead me back to where the loss began and guide me forward.”
5. Thank God for His Restoration.
“Thank You, Lord, for being a God who restores. Thank You for working even when I can’t see it. I praise You for what You will do in Your perfect timing.”
When life feels heavy with loss, let this prayer remind you: what seems gone forever is never out of God’s reach. Trust Him, and believe that He can bring back what feels lost.
