I am a decent person today because of my mother. She rules my world. She’s taught me nearly everything I need to know in life directly and Indirectly and I owe her so much for raising me right.
I witnessed her do many things that I still replicate to this day, and I wanted to share some of these things with you since they continue to help me;
Going Back Home.
We always returned home, regardless of what happened or where we went. My mother encouraged us to appreciate and cherish our living space. This trait has saved me from a lot of drama, and I'm glad I've stuck with it.
Sharing With Others.
Growing up, there were times I thought my mom just enjoyed giving our stuff out but, I’d soon come to realize the concept of sharing and living beyond one’s self. Yes, there was giving, but there was also sharing. Sharing what we had with friends and families who stayed around/far was a consistent practice and soon we had picked up and even grew cheerful while doing it.
Self-Respect.
I can still count how many people had visited our family home. We knew who could come visiting and who couldn’t. My mother was the warmest and the most accommodating woman, yet she held herself in the highest regard, and you could never find her around careless activities or people. She believed that not everyone deserved to visit your home, and I agree.
Working Hard.
My mother had her physical store burned almost twice, yet she never gave up. She still is the most agile and hardworking person I've ever known. She works hard, supports her family, and cares for everyone and everything. Her work ethic is exceptional.
Love.
Because she gives everything to those she considers her own, I can think of no other term to describe her actions than love. She loves sincerely serves and cares for every soul after her heart. She pecks us, holds us and carries us till date.
Gratitude.
Many people believe I am overly thankful, but I respond that they haven't met my mother. Growing up, mom taught us to say thank you for everything, and she showed us certain people we should never forget in this life. According to her, they assisted her with us when we were little and were quite there at difficult moments. I keep and utilize the list of those people till date.
Student Forever.
My mother continually strived for knowledge, despite the fact that she had never went past basic school. She first taught me some of my "big" English. She taught me terms like "upholstery" and "rehaul," among others. She read her Bible and books extensively and wrote on paper a lot. She has the best handwriting ever, and she has been teaching children at Sunday school since I was old enough to recognise her as my mother. Wow.
God.
If anyone has the most faith, it is her. My mother never wavered in her commitment to serving God throughout our lives, which instilled in us an abundance of courage. We are aware of our stance in Christ; we were trained and schooled in the house of God, and we know we will never be alone in life because we have our God.
Cleanliness.
I tell everyone who wants to know that she is the cleanest woman I know. An extremely tidy woman. I always return home to a clean compound and well-kept room, and I could never remain quiet about it. While we grew, we never went to bed at nights with dirty plates in the washbasin, and that truly helped me in my life.
Dress your best. Always!
My mother owns a female fashion store, but this is all a result of her sense of style. I frequently saw her wear corporate/English attire, which included a lot of coats, skirts, dresses, and starched shirts. I'd never seen her dress anyhow. Regardless of what she was dealing with, she showed up, and she did so nicely. Always.
I often state that I grew up nicely, and it's not far from home. It's funny how we don't notice trends until we grow older. I sometimes sit down and check myself, just to discover that I have taken after this woman, which makes me proud.
She is someone I want to be like. And, honestly, I don't see anyone else who comes close to this woman. She is the most giving, content, and put-together lady I know. I'm so thrilled she's mine. I'm really glad.
Our parents have a way of deeply impacting and shaping who we are as individuals. Their influence is not just limited to certain aspects of our lives, but rather it permeates every part of our being. They have the ability to shape our beliefs, values, and even our choices. It's truly remarkable how their presence can have such a profound impact in our lives.
I owe my faith in God to my mom, and I will remain devoted to Him forever😊
